  I’m not sure why this Lowe’s continues to operate self checkout lanes. If they aren’t outright closed, the checkweigher didn’t like how you placed an item in your bag and now it’s time to wait for assistance. It’s not self checkout when every transaction requires an employee override. On top of this, there rarely seems to be more than one cashier at the regular registers. It’s unfortunate as this would otherwise be a pleasant experience. The store is always remarkably clean and aisles aren’t choked with pop up cardboard displays filled with gimmicky tools (take notes HD). Staff are available but largely leave you to your own devices, a plus in my book. In the end, the self checkout/cashier situation erases any positive notes from your home improvement journey. When the last interaction had with the store is the frustration of Lowe’s refusing to take your money, it’s what customers remember most about their experience.
